Charge: (responsibilities, tasks)

In collaboration with the ASLO committee, the ISLO will coordinate and communicate student learning outcomes assessment activities for Student Support Services, Human Resources, Administrative Services, and Economic Resource Development in a manner that aligns with SLO assessment established by the Assessment of Student Learning Outcomes committee.  This will include:

  • Encouraging the alignment of area student learning outcomes with the Institutional Core Competencies.
  • Sharing a common vocabulary of student learning outcomes and the philosophy of assessment.
  • Sharing best practices for  SLO assessment and for generating evidence of learning
  • In collaboration with the ASLO committee, reviewing regularly the progress on the assessment of the institutional core competencies college-wide.
  • Highlighting the significance of SLO assessment data, progress and areas for continued work.
  • Disseminating information college-wide on SLO activities through e-mail, newsletters or college wide presentations.
  • Learning to utilize the college-wide database of SLO assessment data, program review data and program planning data (currently a software selection for a database is in review).
  • Monitoring and regularly reporting the progress of student learning outcomes assessment using the ACCJC rubric for evaluating institutional effectiveness in student learning outcomes and the ACCJC “Annual Report Update on Student Learning Outcomes”
  • Communicating to college groups current and emerging ACCJC policies, standards or other requirements related to student learning outcomes

Representative from the Associated Student Body
Representative from the Assessment of Student Learning Outcomes Committee (ASLO)
Two (2) Representatives from Student Support Services (1 faculty & 1 non-faculty)
Representative from Human Resources
Representative from Economic and Resource Development
Representative from Administrative Services

* One person cannot fulfill more than one position.  Faculty representatives can serve two 3-yr terms.  Terms are staggered.

It is expected that the committee will draw upon additional resources from the pool of knowledge, experience, and technical expertise as necessary.
