Planning Structure Revision

APPROVED BY ACADEMIC COUNCIL
AUGUST 21, 2007

1. College Planning Committee

Composition and Structure

The College Planning Committee would be co-chaired by the Academic Senate President and by a Vice-President selected by the Superintendent/President.  The composition of the College Planning Committee would be as follows:

    1. All members of the President’s Executive Committee, excluding the superintendent/president
    2. All members of the Academic Senate Executive Committee
    3. A representative from the department heads, elected by the department heads.
    4. A representative from the instructional deans
    5. A representative from the student services deans
    6. A representative appointed by ASB
    7. A representative appointed by CCA
    8. A representative appointed by CHI
    9. A representative appointed by AFT

At the beginning of the academic year, each vice-president on the committee would be paired with a member of the Academic Senate Executive Committee to work on matters or projects selected by the overall planning body.  These pairs could be charged with working together to recommend the composition and charge of a task force or the way to approach a specific issue and would then bring their recommendations back to the main body.

Representatives of the deans and department heads would serve on the committee for a two-year term and may not serve more than one consecutive term.

2. Planning Steering Committee

The College Planning Committee Co-Chairs and the Chief Planning Administrator will form a steering committee for the planning process.  This steering committee will meet regularly to set College Planning Committee agendas, plan for College Planning Committee meetings, and keep the superintendent/president informed regarding the planning process.

3. Budget Advisory Committee

The Budget Advisory Committee will remain as a standing sub-committee of the College Planning Committee, co-chaired by the Vice-President of Administrative Services and a designee of the academic senate.  The charge and composition of the BAC will not change; however, rather than meeting monthly, BAC will schedule meetings as necessary but with an expected minimum of two meetings per semester.
